SARAH MCINTYRE’S CARNEGIE CO-AUTHOR CONUNDRUM

image

The glorious Sarah McIntyre always speaks sense and makes some important points. This time she’s really hit a big nail on the head. It’s maybe not something widely acknowledged, but if you start to consider your own bookshelf, you’ll likely…

Oooh. this post is great!
I love collaborating. I love being given the bones of an idea and laying on the visual meat. Working with a writer can be so satisfying.

Some artists can spend years training proffessionaly and great artists spend a lifetime becoming awesome. I’m very priviledged to know some artists who truly deserve every ounce of credit they deserve. But, that statement’s a bit redundant, because every artist deserves the credit they work for. Underestimate an artist at your peril.

When I run through the deep dark forest long after this begun
Where the sun would set, trees were dead and the rivers were none
And I hope for a trace to lead me back home from this place
But there was no sound, there was only me and my disgrace

It’s an early #Inktober today. And another #RobinHobb characters. Can I help it if I dream of a happy girl, growing up to be taught to dance and tumble and murder by her fathers? Hehe.

Today’s #Inktober is for my internet friend Tiz. She’s a self confessed fan of #RobinHobb’s Pale Woman. We really don’t see enough of her or Prilkop, so here’s the Aslevjal prophets. For those who understood none of that: have so scary ass mythic fantasy characters :)

Marie is a girl with the gift of understanding, who is often misunderstood.
I guess now is as good a time as any to announce that it’s official: My graphic novel For the Love of God, Marie! is being published by Myriad Editions in 2016. I signed the contract last week, the script is done, now I just gotta get to work on the pages!
This is not the final artwork but it’s pretty close: I’m going to be doing the whole book in limited colour palettes so it’ll look a little different in the end. I’ll be posting updates on each stage and previews of the art over the next year or so here on my site so I hope you all look forward to seeing Marie! come to life, slowly but surely.
I’m also putting together a mailing list for info about the book; if I don’t already have your email and you’re interested in news about the eventual publication date, pre-orders, launch party etc, please send me your email info! You can comment on this post or send me an email at teahermit@hotmail.co.uk.
Thanks everyone who has already offered their congratulations/well dones/dude that’s awesomes on this fantastic news. I really appreciate how much you’re all looking forward to my first full length graphic novel, and I’ll do my best to make it a really enjoyable book!

Being one of a priviledged few to have seen the sample pages for this, I have to say this is currently the thing I’m anticipating most about 2016. I think it would still be near the top of the list, even if my agenda for that year was bigger than it currently is! haha.

In case you’ve been wondering what the hey i’ve been up to this summer.

Here’s a competition comic for the Titan Undiscovered Talent Competition. he story’s a wonderful one but alas, I am not the one who wrote it, for that you’ll have to thank my old friend Ian Mayor (https://twitter.com/IanMayor). “The Maker” is just a snippet of his creation, but these characters/setting were great to work with.
